Elice Inc. and Standard Energy sign MOU for joint development of AI PMDC and power solutions

Elice Inc., a full-stack AI company providing AI infrastructure, cloud, and industry-specific solutions, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with battery specialist Standard Energy Co., Ltd. (CEO Bugi Kim) on the 6th for the joint development of an AI portable modular data center (PMDC) and vanadium ion battery (VIB)-based power solutions.

This partnership comes at a time when demand for data centers is rapidly increasing due to the expansion of AI services. The collaboration aims to simultaneously enhance power stability, fire safety, and energy efficiency—key challenges in operating AI infrastructure. The two companies will jointly develop a high-efficiency power infrastructure solution by integrating Standard Energy’s vanadium ion battery (VIB) technology into Elice’s AI portable modular data center, “Elice AI PMDC.”

Unlike conventional lithium-ion batteries, Standard Energy’s vanadium ion batteries use water-based electrolytes, which effectively eliminate the risk of fire. As a result, they are attracting attention as a technology that can provide stable power supply and improve energy efficiency in AI data center environments, where high-performance GPUs lead to significant power consumption and heat generation. By combining this with Elice’s liquid-cooled AI data center technology—Elice commercialized Asia’s first liquid-cooled B200 AI data center in Korea last year—the two companies plan to establish a new standard for next-generation AI data centers with enhanced safety and power efficiency.

The partners will jointly develop modular uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and battery energy storage system (BESS) solutions optimized for PMDC environments, and work on advancing an energy management system (EMS) that uses AI to analyze and predict energy usage patterns. Elice will support the application of AI technologies based on PMDC operational data, while Standard Energy will be responsible for the stable supply and standardization of vanadium ion battery technology.

Going forward, the two companies plan to jointly participate in government-led national AI data center (AIDC) projects and collaborate to expand into both public and private data center markets. They also intend to work together on overseas market entry, including Japan and other global regions.

Jae Won Kim, CEO of Elice Inc., said,

“Safe and efficient energy solutions are a core requirement for sustainable AI infrastructure operations. By combining Elice’s leading AI modular data center technology in Korea with Standard Energy’s battery technology, we aim to establish a next-generation AI data center standard that delivers energy efficiency optimized for AI workloads, reduces location constraints, and provides a stable, high-performance computing environment.”

Bugi Kim, CEO of Standard Energy, said,

“Power infrastructure will ultimately be the decisive factor in the AI industry. The combination of AI PMDC, which addresses physical space constraints, and our VIB ESS with proven safety will be a key driving force for the expansion of AI data centers. We will present an optimal solution that reduces grid burden while improving overall efficiency.”
