Collaborating to build edge data centers with Elice AI PMDC
National Data eXchange in Korea(NDeX) and AI and Data Center Collaborations
Elice has signed a business agreement with the Korea Institute of Science and Technology Information (KISTI) for cooperation in the areas of National Data exchange in Korea(NDeX), AI infrastructure and data center operations and research.
KISTI is a specialized research institute that supports the connection of big science and convergence research through the National Science and Technology Research Network and accelerates public-private high-performance data sharing and infrastructure connectivity through the National Data exchange in Korea*.
**NDeX (National Data eXchange in Korea): An ultra-high-performance network infrastructure for seamless large-scale data exchange between providers and consumers. It has been operated by KISTI since 2023 to improve the limitations of large-scale data transmission through existing Internet exchange nodes and to address the challenges of the public and private sectors in the field of big data transmission and exchange.
Elice is a CSP that provides AI-specific cloud services based on its modular data center AI PMDC. In February this year, it obtained CSAP IaaS certification. CSAP is a security certification that private companies must obtain to provide cloud services to national and public organizations.
KISTI chose to work with Elice because of its ability to independently develop AI services and cloud software, as well as modular data center infrastructure and hardware.
Collaborate on AI infrastructure for large-scale AI model development
Through this agreement, the two organizations will
- Collaborate on network and data center infrastructure to strengthen domestic sovereign AI R&D capabilities
- Collaborate on public-private computing and network infrastructure for the development of large-scale, large-capacity AI models
- Convergence research in other areas of mutual interest
in other areas of mutual interest.
Buseung Cho, Director of KISTI’s S&T Research Network Center, said “We are promoting the S&T Research Network and National Data Exchange Node projects to facilitate the sharing of large-scale data and the linkage of AI resources without public and private boundaries for the digital national transformation of science and technology. Through this business agreement, we look forward to creating an ecosystem for AI and high-performance computing (HPC) utilization based on the National Data Exchange Node and collaborating with Ellis Group in the fields of data center and AI.”
“With this agreement, we hope that Elice AI cloud infrastructure will contribute to the creation of an ecosystem where various research organizations can share data,” said Jae Won Kim, CEO of Elice. ”We plan to create synergies with more public organizations in the AI infrastructure space with our AI capabilities.”
