Elice Cloud, a cloud platform for AI education and research and development, adopts Dell PowerEdge XE9680 servers with high-performance GPUs and eco-friendly elements
Elice, Inc., an AI-powered education solution company, has selected Dell PowerEdge XE9680 servers for its high-performance AI workloads for its Elice Cloud AI data center construction project from Dell Technologies. The two companies have also signed an MoU on mutual cooperation to build an AI data center at Dell Technologies office in Seoul on June 3.
Elice Cloud, operated by Elice, Inc., is a cloud platform for providing GPUs and other computing resources for AI training and R&D in a simple and reliable. Each company and organization using Elice Cloud can easily build a research and development environment, including AI education, competitions, and AI solutions development, according to their unique requirements.
High-performance GPUs are essential for AI services, and Elice, Inc. decided to upgrade Elice Cloud with the latest GPU servers to keep up with the explosive growth of AI demand. During this process, sustainability factors such as energy efficiency, floor space minimization, data sovereignty and governance for an eco-friendly data center were reviewed together, and, as a result, Dell PowerEdge XE9680 with NVIDIA H100 Tensor Core GPU and R750xa servers, and Dell PowerSwitch networking switches were selected to upgrade Elice Cloud.
Increase energy efficiency and reduce costs with a portable modular data center(PMDC) that is easily scalable and minimizes floor space
In collaboration with Dell Technologies, Elice, Inc. has implemented a portable modular data center(PMDC) approach for Elice Cloud that enables elastic infrastructure expansion in modules. This minimizes idle infrastructure and maximizes the utilization of compute resources such as GPUs. It also lowers the PUE of the data center by supporting high power density of 20 to 40 kilowatts per rack, and applies dynamic allocation technology to efficiently utilize GPUs and NPUs, allowing users to allocate compute resources as needed in real time. With a smaller footprint and lower power and operational costs, we are able to expand our curriculum and reach more people with training opportunities in AI and digital transformation.
Elice,Inc. is the first AI courseware in Korea to obtain the CSAP SaaS standard grade, and has laid the foundation for entering the public SaaS market by meeting domestic and international security compliance conditions, and plans to explore various business opportunities in the future. In addition, the company participated in the ‘AI Digital Textbook Service Model and Prototype Development Research’ project for secondary English and information subjects organized by the Korea Education Research and Information Service (KERIS).
The Dell PowerEdge XE9680, selceted by Elice, Inc., is an eight-GPU model for AI that can be equipped with NVIDIA H100 TensorCore or AMD Instinct accelerators, with future support options for Intel Gaudi 3 AI accelerators. PowerEdge XE9680 is suitable for HPC clusters and massive AI data sets used in large-scale natural language processing, recommendation engines, and neural network applications, and provides optimal performance and increased energy efficiency with an air-cooled design that improves airflow through Dell Smart Cooling technology.
Elice Inc. is collaborating with Dell to expand its business by combining its training lab platform, Elice LXP, with cloud infrastructure. As part of these efforts, Elice launched the Elice Cloud-based Elice Cloud ML API service in March of this year. It is an on-demand service that is designed to detect sudden increases in service usage and automatically expand the server to continuously maintain an optimal user experience.
Jungkuk Park, CTO & Co-Founder of Elice said, “This collaboration with Dell Technologies, with its proven technology and experience in data center infrastructure solutions, will enable us to reliably operate a dedicated AI data center. We will continue to strengthen our AI infrastructure capabilities to provide cloud-based AI education in an optimized environment for enterprises and institutions, including schools, where AI digital textbooks will be introduced next year.”
Kevin Kim, Senior Vice President and Head of Korea business, Dell Technologies commented, “Elice, Inc. is making great contributions to fostering digital talent and developing the edtech industry in line with the proliferation of AI technology. Dell Technologies will continue to provide optimal infrastructure solutions and full technical support to help Elice, Inc. join the ranks of innovators like them.”
